Thomas R. Doud, O.D.

Dr. Doud opened Hartland Eye Care in 1992. He grew up in Battle Creek, Michigan where he graduated from St. Philip High School. He attended Central Michigan University as a chemistry major while working at Dow Chemical. He received his Doctorate in Optometry from Ferris State College of Optometry in 1986. As a staff optometrist at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami, Florida, he gained extensive experience in the treatment of ocular diseases such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, and diabetes. He then joined the staff of one of Michigan’s busiest refractive surgery centers where he gained extensive experience in the care of cataract and Lasik surgery patients. He opened the affiliated Visual Learning Center in 2003 to help care for patients with Learning related visual problems as well as such problems as amblyopia, strabismus, and convergence insufficiency. Dr. Doud is a member of Michigan Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association. He resides in Brighton with his wife and three daughters.

For example, I've taken two years of training at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, one of the best eye care centers in the country. And for six years, I was the clinic director of Castleman Eye Center, which gave me extensive experience in eye disease treatment and postoperative care."
